The regular meeting between the Leaders of the Responsible Care Council (VRCC) and FDI enterprises in Vietnam takes place to further promote cooperation between Governments and businesses
On April 7, 2017, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Regular Meeting between the Leaders of the Responsible Care Council (VRCC) and FDI enterprises in Vietnam was officially held to further promote the cooperation between governments and businesses of APEC member countries in chemical safety management, sustainable chemical industry development as well as free trade.

At the meeting, Mr. Do Thanh Bai, Vice President and General Secretary of VRCC reported on the progress of the Meetings of the Chemical Dialogue (CD) that just took place in Nha Trang city in 2 days. February 18 and 19, 2017. This is an event within the framework of activities of SOM 1 (Senior Officials Meeting) to prepare for the APEC Summit in November in Da Nang.

At the same time, the main contents of the RCLG meetings held in Berlin in March 2017 and the program of training courses within the framework of RC capacity building activities in 2017-2018 with the support of RCLG and APRO was also mentioned by Mr. Do Thanh Bai. It highlights chemical and health policy concerns as well as technical guidelines developed by ICCA on process safety.

The meeting further strengthens the linkage and cooperation of the Government and businesses of APEC member countries in chemical safety management.

Accordingly, in 2017 there will be 04 training courses related to emergency response in safe chemical transportation and process safety assessment under the guidance of ICCA and GPS/GHS/Risk Assessment. . At the meeting, Mr. Do Thanh Bai emphasized: “One of the important contents of this CD is to further promote cooperation between governments and businesses in general and associations in particular from other countries. APEC member in chemical safety management with the aim of developing a sustainable chemical industry as well as free trade.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Do Duy Phi, Vice President of Vietnam Chemistry Association and President of VRCC proposed to discuss important contents related to VRCC’s objectives such as: Strengthening coordination between the Department Chemicals and the Pollution Control Department to implement the policy of strengthening cooperation and dialogue between state management agencies and chemicals and Vietnamese chemical enterprises through VRCC; Enhance the effectiveness of RC activities through improving the organization of the VRCC Secretariat; Enhance the quality and quantity of VRCC members, including FDI and Vietnamese enterprises; Expanding the type of members that are enterprises operating in the field of logistics (Logistics) and chemical waste in Vietnam and Strengthening the activity of “Assessment of RC activities”…

The meeting was attended by delegates from the Vietnam Chemistry Association, the Chemical Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Pollution Control, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment…

Sharing the same view with Mr. Do Duy Phi, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sinh, Deputy Director of the Chemical Department also expressed the special concern of the Chemical Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for VRCC’s activities. According to Mr. Sinh, Department of Chemicals has been and will continue to strongly support VRCC in the areas of capacity building as well as expansion of VRCC network.

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of Hazardous Chemicals Management Department of the Department of Pollution Control, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment also mentioned a number of contents that are being studied for inclusion in the Circular on environmental management. in the field of chemicals in order to both ensure safety for the environment and reduce pressure from the Government on businesses.

Also at the seminar, many questions from reporters and businesses related to issues such as: Amended Chemical Decree, List of chemicals, Chemical declaration, chemical incident prevention and response plan … were answered in a specific, clear and reasonable manner by the delegates. Business leaders as well as officials related to chemical safety management from enterprises such as DOW. EVONIK, DUPONT, AKZO NOBEL … shared a lot of experiences and ideas to improve the efficiency of Vietnam’s RC operations and more importantly, how to contribute to sharing experiences and resources in the field of development.
